Rapper-Producer Sterlen Roberts is back at it again with a new sound, and a new album that will definitely create a buzz among listeners. Not only is the new album personal and relatable, it is also thought provoking and deeply conscious. Sterlen Roberts is no stranger to exploring the depths of creative freedom, so believe me when I say that the title of the album, I Probably Shouldn’t, is indicative of the content in every way.

I Probably Shouldn’t is set for a mid-summer release, and features twelve new tracks, ranging from radio hits to personal, thought-provoking songs with insights to the artist’s real life experiences. Art is a reflection of self, and in true artist fashion, Sterlen Roberts uses his lyrical prowess to address some of the most contentious topics of today.

In his latest song, “Why,” Roberts addresses the election of President Obama, and the backlash he’s received by simply asking those who hate him, why? This song is raw and personal, and will definitely cause listeners – regardless of political standpoint - to take a step back, and self-assess while reflecting on the current state of things.

Each song has its own unique sound, and Roberts’ personal touch is evident in the album’s eclecticism. While the artist considers his single, “Home” a creative blend of Trap, Gospel, Folk and Soul, other songs such as, “Bullet-Proof” and “God Us,” are directly inspired by his true feelings, and real life experiences.

I Probably Shouldn’t, is a compilation of eclectic songs with the ability to pack the dance floor, and tug on the heartstrings of listeners with its raw, and emotional subject matter. It is the mixture of Roberts’ candor, and complexity that sets this album apart from his previous releases by accentuating his fearless approach to creative expression, and once again proving that he is a multi-faceted artist. With this album, fans should expect to see a completely different side of Sterlen Roberts, as he takes them on his personal journey of creativity and truth.
